English Spanish French Catalan

Providing a high-quality service from Spanish, French and Catalan to English.

I am here to use my skills and passion as a translator, interpreter and proofreader so that you are able to say what is important to you, correctly and accurately, in English.

If this is what you want, you are in the right place.

About Me

My name is Stuart Taylor. I am a freelance translator from Paisley, Scotland, based in Glasgow and working from Spanish, French and Catalan to English. To date, I have translated over 3,000,000 words professionally. My job is to help my clients to make their texts accessible to an English-speaking audience. English is the current lingua franca, so it is extremely advantageous for companies and individuals to be able to have a voice in English so as to communicate effectively in today’s globalised world.

I work with translation agencies and direct clients in a number of fields, ensuring that an open line of communication is maintained at all times in order to meet the client’s expectations and achieve their objectives. Keeping in touch with the client throughout the translation process is an important part of my job, as translators must often seek clarification on content and should provide updates on their progress to build trust with their clients. If you are working with a translator that never asks questions, they are not doing their job properly!

The services that I offer are translation, interpreting and proofreading. For more details, see the Services page.

Qualifications & Education

I have an MSc in Interpreting and Translating in Spanish and French from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. In addition, I have a First Class Honours degree from the University of Strathclyde in International Business and Modern Languages. I also have experience as a teacher, having worked as a part-time music and languages tutor since 2008. Furthermore, I spent a year in Spain as an Erasmus student at the University of Murcia, where I studied marketing, as well as interpreting and translation in fields such as international trade, tourism and literature. This means that I have a strong educational background and invaluable experience in a foreign country.

Whilst my experience in translating and interpreting in education has covered a wide number of subject matters, as a freelance translator I have worked with texts dealing with finance, marketing, law, trade, psychology, sociology and the economy (click here for a list of subject matters I deal with). I have also gained a significant amount of experience working as a volunteer, translating news and opinion articles for news websites and charities. Two of the projects with which I am most involved are Mexico Voices and Watching America. This work has given me vast experience in translating subjects such as international politics, indigenous issues, drugs trafficking and human rights.
